STUDENTS at Melksham Oak Community School had an insight into apprenticeships from local employers during National Apprenticeship Week that was held from 6th to 13th February.
Newly appointed head of careers, Ceri Tranter is overseeing careers education and driving employer engagement at the school
Ceri said, “After 20 years recruiting apprentices and as an employability skills coach prior to joining mainstream schools across The White Horse Federation, I wanted to make a difference to the students’ education; ensuring awareness is inspiring for future talent.
“I have been able to do this at Melksham Oak, with thanks to local employers and an engaged and enthusiastic team of professionals. My key goal is to ensure all students are educated in their available choices and build Skills for Life. (#NAW2023 #SkillsforLife campaign).
“During National Apprenticeship Week, a number of events have been happening at the school including; interactive awareness session on what is an apprenticeship, employer insight apprenticeship awareness sessions, and of course apprenticeship careers in the curriculum delivered directly from specialist subject teachers in lessons.”
