Summer holiday foundation badminton day camps for 5-11 year olds are coming to Wiltshire next month.
The day camps will be held on Thursdays and Fridays throughout August by the North Wiltshire Badminton Project (NWBP).
Organisers say, “The sessions are packed with fun games utilising imaginative equipment that aid development of children’s social, hand to eye coordination, fundamental movement, racket and basic tactical skills and awareness.
“We have a stand at Party in the Park in King George V park in Melksham on Saturday 20th July where there will be a chance to win a branded prize in our ‘Win a Rally’ competition and to obtain more information about the project and how to get involved.”
The day camps will be hosted at Sheldon School sports hall, Chippenham. For NWBP members the day camp will cost £25 per day; for non-members £30 per day.
In addition to the summer holiday day camps, NWBP also runs a junior badminton club in Melksham for youngsters over the age of 10.
Budding badminton players receive one hour of technical and tactical coaching, followed by over an hour of match play. The club is run by fully qualified Badminton England coaches (UK coaching certificate level 2 &3).
Sessions are held Saturday mornings at Melksham Oak School from 10am to 12pm. Alternatively, sessions are held at the Olympiad in Chippenham, Friday evenings from 5.30pm to 8pm. The first week is free, then sessions are £5.50 for members and £6.50 for non members. For more details, visit www.NWBP.online; email info@nwbp.online; or call/text 07973 861350.
