Santa is taking a rest from going down chimneys and coming to Melksham Railway station on Sunday 14th December!
He’ll be on two trains visiting Swindon, and all children will have the chance to meet him and receive a present.
The Santa Specials leave Melksham at 1.30pm or 4.30pm for a round trip of about two hours – you’ll ride up to Swindon and back on the train, you’ll meet Santa, your children will get a present, everyone will get a mince pie and soft drink and adults will be offered a complimentary glass of wine.
The trains are organised by the Melksham Railway Development Group and tickets are £9 for adults and £5 for children (aged up to 15). They are available from the Tourist Information Centre in Church Street. You’ll need to book early to avoid disappointment, as these trips have limited places available and sell out quickly.
Graham Ellis, on behalf of TransWilts Community Rail Partnership said, “Our thanks to First Great Western for providing extra carriages on the train, to Santa Claus for agreeing to visit the ‘Santa Train’ again this year, and to all the community elves behind the scene who help make this a fun trip for everyone!
“Why not do some of your Christmas shopping in Swindon this year? On Saturdays, trains leave Melksham for Swindon at 07:48, 08:37, 09:48 and 11:48, returning at 12:36, 14:36, 15:22, 17:36, 19:36 and 21:08. The Sunday train is at 10:20, returning from Swindon at 16:05 or 18:19
“Free parking is available at Melksham Station and you can buy your tickets on the train.”
