TEENAGER, Abbie Dark has donated 17 inches of her hair to the Little Princess Trust and so far has raised £445 for the charity.
13-year-old Abbie has always wanted to donate her hair to the Little Princess Trust who make wigs for children who have lost their own hair through illness.
Abbie said, “I’ve had little trims before but never had it properly cut. I was known at primary school as ‘the girl with the longest hair’ and at one point I could even sit on it.
“I was a little bit nervous but I love my new short hair! It feels pretty cool to know that I have helped other children. I’m definitely going to grow it and do it again! I think if you have enough hair and you’re going to get it cut, you should donate it to the charity.”
Abbie’s hair will be enough to make two wigs which cost £350 to make.
Abbie added, “I’ve also been fundraising and so far have raised £445 for the charity. I want to reach £1,000 which will pay for almost three wigs.
“I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone that has donated. I have received a lot of anonymous donations and some from people I don’t even know so I’m very grateful.”
