MELKSHAM Town Hall will be hosting an electoral debate with a difference this week, when candidates will come together to discuss how the wider implications of their policies.
The ‘Question Time’ style debate will take place at the Town Hall from 7.30pm on Friday 10th April. It has been arranged by Melksham Energy Group, Climate Friendly Bradford on Avon, Bradford on Avon Fairtrade and Oxfam Groups, and West Wilts Amnesty International Group.
The debate will be chaired by Professor Dennis Tate from Bath University’s Department of Politics, Languages and International Studies.
Dennis said, “We’ve already received many questions and our hustings is shaping up to be a lively exchange.”
The panel will consist of Chippenham’s five candidates: Michelle Donelan (Conservative), Duncan Hames (Liberal Democrat), Tina Johnston (Green), Andy Newman (Labour), and Julia Reid (UKIP).
A representative sample of five to seven questions will be chosen for detailed discussion by each member of the panel. If time permits, there may be an opportunity for further questions or comments from the floor at the end of the debate.
