Spencers Sports & Social Club welcome a new band to the club on Saturday 10th June.
The Rockin’ Bandits will be replacing The Bird Dogs as two members of the band have prior commitments and are unable to come. However, many will recognise three members of The Rockin’ Bandits as they are also in the Bird Dogs.
The Rockin’ Bandits started in the late 80s as a three-piece band with Chris Cook on lead guitar. Colin Barnett on drums joined in 1993 and singer Mike Venner came along a few years later.
After a break for some years and then forming The Bird Dogs, they decided to get The Rockin’ Bandits back on the music scene last year ,with Rab Garrow on double bass to make up the present line up. Chris, Mike and Rab write a lot of their own material for the band and have recorded for Western Star and Foot Tapping records.
The band has backed Ray Campi, the American rock & roll musician and Sonny Burgess, the American rockabilly guitarist and singer, to name but a few. They have played at many prestigious venues all over the country and have just come back from Norfolk where they played on the Mississippi river boat at Hemsby.
Playing roots rockabilly leaning towards the country side, with touches of western swing thrown in, this band certainly will get everyone up on the dance floor that’s for sure.
