Three people arrested following a pursuit near Melksham
AT 11.55am on the 10th April, officers from the community policing team spotted a Silver Skoda in suspicious circumstances on the A350 between Semington and Melksham. When the driver of the Skoda saw a marked police vehicle, the vehicle made off at speed.
The Skoda was then sighted by a Roads Policing Unit and immediately failed to stop.
A pursuit then took place, with the driver eventually stopping the vehicle in Little Parks, Holt.
Three occupants were arrested on suspicion of theft of a vehicle and possession of cannabis. One of those arrested – a man in his 20s from Coventry, was also arrested on suspicion of driving a vehicle without a licence or insurance and failing to provide a sample at the road side for a drug driving investigation.
Sgt. Will Ayres said: “This incident was a result of dedicated patrols by the community policing team and collaborative work with officers from the Specialist Operations Roads Policing Unit which meant the pursuit was quickly concluded with three people arrested. Despite the current unprecedented situation across the country, officers are still tackling offences and are actively patrolling communities here in Wiltshire.”
