Students and staff from Forest and Sandridge School have buried a time capsule at the site where their new school is being built.
Deputy headteacher Helen Biles-Wood said, “The time capsule contains various items to represent the school; a leaver’s teddy, a class photograph from when the school first opened in 1875, the school’s vision and values, the school prayer and also the school uniform to remind them that although they are moving to a different place, they are still the same school.”
Reverend Alison Sowton from St. Andrews in Forest, blessed the time capsule at a special school assembly the day before it was buried.
She said, “The assembly was lovely. The items were put into the time capsule and it was blessed. We said prayers and the children held hands.”
The school is due to move to its new location in September. Headteacher Anna Wilcox said, “We are all very much looking forward to moving into our new school and the time capsule is a very important to the process. We may be moving to a different site, but we are still the same school with the same values.”
