MELKSHAM business, Tops Hair & Beauty Salon, has won MP Michelle Donelan’s Small Business of the Year competition.
Members of the team will celebrate their win by going to Parliament in the new year to collect a trophy and have tea and cake.
“It’s brilliant to have even been nominated for the competition, and it was a really big shock to win,” says owner Victoria. “It’s been so good for everyone to get behind us and we’ve had so many well-wishes since we’ve been announced that we’ve won. I am looking forward to tea and cake in Parliament!”
MP Michelle Donelan has cited the ‘amazing customer service and friendly team’ as being one of the reasons why Tops is loved in the town.
“Thank you to all of those who took the time to nominate such fantastic local businesses and to the 800 people who voted,” she said.
“I visited Tops to congratulate the team in person on their win and will be presenting them with their trophy in the new year.
“The competition has been a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the work of all those small, local and independent businesses in our community and I think all of the nominations for this year’s competition are a testament to how lucky we are to have so many brilliant small businesses.”
This is the second year that a Melksham business has won the competition, after Spindles Coffee Stop and Bike Shop in Whitley, took the first-place accolade last year.
Runners up this year were Henley’s Cake Company in Staverton and May’s Greengrocers in Corsham.
