COVENTRY Building Society in Melksham has been fundraising for local hospice, Dorothy House, as part of a company-wide initiative.
Four members of senior management for the building society have been completing a tour-de-branch, which has seen them cycle to and visit every branch in the UK – including Melksham.
In total, there are 70 branches nationwide and the cyclists covered 550 miles in just five days. As part of the challenge, each branch was asked to raise money for a charity local to that branch. Melksham’s chosen charity is Dorothy House. The team has held a bake sale and are due to have a raffle to raise funds. So far over £150 has been raised. However, the raffle is still open at £1 a ticket and with a £1,000 prize.
Emma Brodie, senior community officer for the Coventry said, “It’s a great initiative as it means the management gets to meet all the staff, but also means we can support local charities across the country, just like Melksham have with Dorothy House.”
