DID you notice a familiar face walking around Melksham earlier this month? Filming for his ITV2 programme Educating Essex, Joey Essex was given a grand tour of the town by Mr. Christmas aka Andy Park.
Andy said, “It was a great day. He came to Melksham and we had a wander around, went for a coffee, went to the bank – no-one recognised him though as he had a big bobble hat on!
“It was for his show Educating Joey Essex, the Christmas special ‘What You Sleighing’ and Joey wanted to find out the meaning of Christmas. We had a Christmas dinner, pulled crackers, exchanged presents and watched the Queen’s speech on DVD. He brought me jumper and I had a bauble specially made by Whitehall Garden Centre with Joey Essex on it.
“He thought I was wacky but he said it was good fun and if it made me happy then why shouldn’t I celebrate Christmas day every day.”
Educating Essex Christmas Special will air on 22nd December on ITV2.
Andy was also invited to meet the team from E4’s Tattoo Fixers.
Andy said, “I met all the team and they were great. Alice Perrin offered to give me a tattoo so I had mistletoe on my ankle. It was absolute agony!”
Tattoo Fixers airs on 20th December on E4.
Andy added, “I would like to say how proud I am to be a Melksham resident. Throughout the year there have been some amazing displays in the town. The flowers through the town were absolutely beautiful in the summer and the cleanliness of the town is also to be congratulated.
“The events of this year were outstanding, including Carnival and Party in the Park and the show-stopping fireworks display at Forest Community Centre.
“A huge well done to Paul Weymouth and the Christmas lights gang on all their hard with the town’s Christmas lights. Congratulations on providing the town with a great array of lights – you really are Light Fantastic!
“I look forward to events and displays in our town in the coming year and thank all those who have helped make Melksham a town to celebrate. Merry Christmas to you all and a prosperous New Year.”
