MELKSHAM Tourist Information Centre, in Church Street, has re-opened with new opening hours and new Covid-secure procedures, but with all their usual services available.
Volunteer at the tourist information centre, Pauline Baker explains, “To all our loyal customers, first, the good news! We are up and running again and ready to welcome you to our slightly altered establishment. It has been a long time since we last saw you, and we hope you have been keeping as well as possible under the difficult conditions with which we have all had to contend
“Meanwhile, we are delighted to be able to offer you our services once again, and these include stamps, photo copying, our wonderful honey, marmalade, gifts – perhaps you’d like to give something to someone who has helped you to cope over recent months – books, although you’ve probably read until your eyes are sore, and of course we can book a trip for you on the National Express Coach, although unfortunately (at least for now) only from Chippenham or Bath, but not Melksham.
“We are also delighted to tell you that the Shoppers’ Bus will be on the road again as from this week, with trips to the usual towns of Chippenham, Devizes and Trowbridge, although with reduced seating available, so it is absolutely vital to book well ahead. The wearing of masks is compulsory when travelling as it is from Friday 24th July in all shops, including ours. Days Out will not be happening for the time being, but keep your eyes and ears open because things change regularly and we live in hope.
“Although we have re-arranged the furniture somewhat, we can assure you that you will receive the same warm welcome as in the past, with our eyes smiling through, despite the face masks, so please do come and see us.
“Ah yes, the slightly less good news! Our opening hours have been reduced and are now as follows: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday – 10am until 2pm while on Wednesday and Saturday the hours are 10am until 12 noon.
“All our volunteer members of staff look forward to welcoming you.”
