Excitement is growing for the first Melksham ClimateFest that will be celebrated in Melksham in three weeks’ time.
On Saturday 17th September the Market Place and Assembly Hall will be filled with stalls, activities, speakers and music to celebrate and inspire environmental responsibility.
Starting at 10.30am, the day will be packed with an intriguing array of stalls including Melksham Beekeepers, Bath Astronomers, Sea Shepherd, Melksham Goes Wild, the Shed Club, Melksham Gardeners’ Society, a wildlife inspired treasure hunt from Melksham Carnival and much more.
Presentations on a range of subjects such as rewilding, recycling and rethinking energy sources will take place throughout the day, as well as a screening of the powerful film Legacy.
There will be a heat pump demonstration, electric vehicles from BMW and Mini on display, and an electric bus carrying people to and from the event all day from the railway station. A fashion show by ‘I Wore it First’ will provide insightful examples of fashion that doesn’t cost the earth and Melksham Goes Wild will share ideas for wildflowers and plants that can attract wildlife to your gardens.
With music from Melksham Ukulele Club and Antigua Joe and food from our local businesses as well as Tandoori G, the day is set to be an entertaining, informative and inspiring event, with something for everyone.
Organised by the Environment and Climate Group of Melksham Town Council, the day is generously supported by Gompels, Gompels Healthcare, BGL Reiber, Blue Leaf Estates, Option 24/7 and Wessex Water Foundation, as well as a team of dedicated volunteers passionate about the big and small differences we can each make to reduce our carbon footprint and look after our environment.
