COVENTRY Building Society have set up their ‘Coventree’ project, encouraging people to donate food to Melksham Food bank this Christmas
Earlier in the year, the Melksham branch of Coventry raised nearly £300 in donations for the food bank and as a result, became a permanent donation station.
Following this success, the staff are doing a similar thing this year. They say, “Our Melksham branch is collecting items for Melksham Foodbank as part of our festive ‘Coventree’ project.
“The Foodbank provides emergency food and support for families and gives out thousands of emergency food supplies every year.
“A Christmas tree has been put up in the branch with gift tags showing gift ideas that the Foodbank has requested. Anyone is able to call into the branch, choose a present they would like to give and then drop the unwrapped item into the branch.
“Our staff will wrap the presents and give them to the Foodbank, to be passed on to anyone in need this Christmas. We are collecting a variety of food and toiletry items. Some items such as shower gel or tinned goods cost less than £1, but will make a huge difference to someone in need this Christmas.
“One such Coventry member who regularly donates to the Foodbank throughout the year is Alan Whetherly and his guide dog, Judy.
“Shopper have until 16th December to drop off gift tag donations at our Melksham branch on the High Street.”
