St. Michael and All Angels Church is opening its doors on Saturday 9th September, for a Heritage Day.
The church will welcome visitors to look around the Grade II listed building, that is nearly 900 years old.
Visitors can expect to see a display of historical pictures covering from the 1700s to recent times; view church vestments and communion vessels on the altar; research parish records (baptisms, marriages and funerals) from the 1800s to modern times; and talk to experts on bells, the tower clock and the church building’s history.
The recently restored church organ will be played at various points and refreshments will be available.
Opening times on the Heritage Day, Saturday 10th September, will be 10am to 5pm. Parish records and displays will also be available for inspection on Sunday 10th September, 12.30pm (after morning service) – 2pm; Monday 12th September, 10am to 4pm and Tuesday 13th until Friday 16th September – please see church notice board for details
The church will also be the visiting point for the Wiltshire Historic Churches Ride and Stride event on Saturday 9th September, a sponsored bike ride or walk raising money for the county’s churches.
