MELKSHAM Town Council is inviting local groups and organisations to take part in the ‘Melksham Community Expo.’
The event, which will take place in September, will be an opportunity for local groups to network, share ideas and also share their work with the public. The event will also feature the annual town council grant awards evening.
Community engagement officer for the town council, Debbie Bentley says, “Whether you represent an established and well-funded voluntary organisation, or are part of a smaller club with a handful of members, you play a vital role in bringing connection, support, services, meaning and friendship to our town. Let me start by saying thank you for all that you do to enrich where we live.
“We as a council ultimately exist to help facilitate this community action and offer support where we can – you are the people making it happen. With this in mind, we are delighted to announce the Melksham Community Expo & Grant Giving on Friday 20th September, 5pm to 9pm.
“This free event will be a great opportunity for community groups of all kinds to network with each other and share ideas, meet the public and to celebrate those groups who have been awarded grants from the council.
“Groups will be able to speak to each other and learn a bit about what support there is out there. They can set-up a stall/table to attract members of the public to find out more; find out what support is out there for community groups; meet prospective volunteers; Share ideas/advice; network with colleagues and other community groups; and be part of the grant-giving ceremony. The public will be invited to come and find out more about your group’s services and volunteering opportunities
“We look forward to this event and hope that as many of you as possible will participate in some or all of it. If you would like to attend and bring a stall, please let us know as soon as possible – stalls will be available on a first-come first-served basis and space is limited, but we will do all we can to fit everyone in.”
