THE Town Hall will play host to a free nine-day art exhibition in the spring.
The building will be listed as one of the venues taking part in the Cloth Road Arts Trail – which promotes the visual arts, artists and artisans in Melksham, Bradford on Avon, Trowbridge, and the surrounding villages of West Wiltshire – between 30th April to 8th May.
Town councillors have agreed to allow local artists to use the main hall at the Town Hall to display their work for people exploring the arts trail.
The Cloth Road Arts is a not-for-profit collective formed in 2004. About why it is called ‘The Cloth Road Arts’, the collective says, “There is no single river or valley that connects the three towns. However they were all involved in the cloth trade in years gone by and roads which link the towns now were all historically used to transport raw materials and finished cloth to ports and markets. Hence the name ‘The Cloth Road’.
