THE town’s community larder has received a £500 donation from the Chaloner Masonic Lodge, for their work in helping to reduce food waste by handing out surplus food supplies, and supporting families in need in the town.
The cheque was presented to founder and organiser of the Community Larder Adrienne Westbrook on Friday 17th March, outside the larder, that is based in the Round House on Church Street.
Treasurer of the Chaloner Masonic Lodge Haydon Jones said, “We had a unanimous vote to donate money to the larder for what they are doing to help people in Melksham. It’s really fantastic what they are doing.”
Adrienne Westbrook said, “We are so grateful for this donation. Thank you so much to the Chaloner Masonic Lodge, it’s amazing. We are doing all we can to support people and minimise food waste. This donation will go towards our running costs.”
The Community Larder recently opened a Community Wardrobe, upstairs at the Round House, offering donations of clothes to people if they are struggling.
