JOHN Stuart Funeral Directors in Melksham have hatched a plan to bring a smile to children’s faces in hospital.
The Bank Street funeral directors is asking the Melksham community to donate Easter eggs to them which will then be passed on to children spending Easter at the Great Western Hospital in Swindon.
The project has already gathered huge support from locals as a pile of Easter treats fills the reception area, with time still remaining to add more eggs to the collection.
The idea to donate Easter eggs comes after a similar appeal at Christmas when selection boxes were donated and handed over to children spending the festive period in hospital.
Ashley McDonald from the Melksham branch dressed in a bunny costume to promote the event saying, “After the great success of the selection box appeal at Christmas and seeing the joy it brought to the children, we are decided to do an appeal to the community for chocolate and Easter eggs for the children spending their Easter in a hospital bed.
“With them having no chance to go to church or do a hunt in their home, we would like to bring some thing for them to smile about. This is why we are asking the community to donate anything from a small egg to a one pound Easter egg so that we can deliver them on Good Friday before the nurses can hand them out on Easter Sunday itself.”
