THE Mayor, cllr Jon Hubbard and Deputy Mayor, cllr Colin Goodhind enjoyed an afternoon of assessing all the shop windows in Melksham town centre in order to choose the winners of the Christmas Window Competition.

The results were very close, and after much deliberation, third prize went to Hairtek for their elegant pink and silver display, and last year’s winners, the Tile and Bathroom Centre came second this year, with their engaging display of elf antics in their window. First prize was awarded to Nic Clyde at Cobblers Bench for a creative compilation of foliage, lights and flowers around a Christmas Tree constructed of handbags in crates, which was put together expertly by Nic’s niece Molly.
The Wiltshire Mind shop was recognised as the best Charity Shop display, and special recognition goes to Belle of the Ball Bridals for a stunning wintery window, PSP Group for their cleverly co-ordinated Grinch- themed display, Glow for a magical Harry Potter- themed window, and Tidy Parties, a new business with an eye-catching Christmas tree made of balloons.
The mayor, cllr Jon Hubbard said, ‘It was wonderful to see the fantastic efforts made by so many of our retailers in the town. It’s always lovely to see how much they clearly care about keeping our High Street vibrant, fun and inviting. Melksham is truly a wonderful place to be at Christmas!’
