COUNCILLOR Adrienne Westbrook has been re-elected as the Mayor of Melksham. Joining her will be cllr Jon Hubbard, who was also re-elected as deputy mayor.
This will be cllr Westbrook’s fourth term as mayor, having previously served in 1997/98, 1999/2000 and 2017/18,
“Last year when Jon and I were elected, we were elected with plans,” she said, “which over the past year have come to fruition. So I’m delighted to be re-elected for another term, so that we can continue to see these plans go through the town council and see the benefits that have been promised to the public delivered.
“My number one priority for the next year is the delivery of the splash pad for King George V playing field and have that ready for summer next year. The town council is really working its socks off, and hopefully the build will start around Christmastime this year.”
For a second year, cllr Westbrook will be aided by deputy mayor, cllr Jon Hubbard. who said, “It’s really lovely to be re-elected as the deputy mayor, it is something that indicates that there is some value added to the work that one’s doing.
“I’m very proud that we’ve taken giant steps at the town council to meet some of the challenges that have been put in front of us. It’s a really exciting time to be involved, and the town council is an exciting place to be and it’s nice to be part of the leadership team that’s helping to take that forward.”
