There is still time to take part in this year’s Melksham Carnival ‘Spot the Oddity’ competition, with almost 80 ‘oddities’ to find throughout the town.
Nearly 80 local businesses have signed up to take part, hiding unusual items in their windows as part of this giant treasure hunt sponsored by TaxAssist Accounts Melksham.
Trail sheets cost £3 and are available from Melksham Library, or for the first time, those who prefer a paperless option can purchase a digital sheet via the Melksham Carnival Facebook page. Participants then head into the town to look into participating windows and consider what items are the ‘odd one out.’
Michelle Brightwell from the carnival team said, “Why has the hairdressers got a tin of tuna in the window? Why is there a paperclip stuck to that wall? Because they are the ‘oddities’ that have been hidden so jot down the answer and then when you have finished, submit your online forms or pop paper ones through the letter box at the town hall by 31st August.”
The team will also be set up at Melksham Campus on 23rd August from 11am to 2pm, if you wish to buy entry sheets from them directly. “We will also have raffle tickets with us that day to give everyone the chance to win a stunning BMW children’s ride on car, donated by Dick Lovett BMW Melksham. The winner will be revealed at the Melksham Food and River Festival on Sunday 31st August.
“Results for ‘Spot the Oddity’ will take a few days to reveal as each form is checked manually but we are looking forward to seeing what everyone finds.”
