A TRIBUTE evening to commemorate the former organiser of Melksham Folk Club, Phil Deverall, will take place on Sunday 12th March at the Rachel Fowler Centre from 7.30pm to 10.30pm.
The event organisers said, “Very sadly, Phil passed away on 13th December 2022. He ran Melksham Folk Club for many years until he became too poorly to continue at the start of 2022.
“Phil’s Folk Club was one of the most friendly and inclusive in the area. Many singers and musicians were inspired by Phil and his laid-back way of hosting the club. So much so that many gained the courage to play in public for the first time.
“Indeed, a number of these new performers have gone on to entertain wider audiences in other clubs, at festivals, concerts, care homes, Alzheimer’s cafes etc etc! As a club, we wish to honour Phil by presenting this relaxed, cabaret- style evening along with other invited guest performers who loved him.
“Everyone is welcome to join us and be entertained with music and light refreshments.
All we ask is a donation toward a charity which was dear to Phil – upkeep of The Rachel Fowler Centre.”
