Two people have been arrested on suspicion of driving and drug offences after an officer on patrol stopped a car in Melksham.
The officer was driving along Semington Road at around 4.10am on Thursday 3rd January when he was overtaken by a grey BMW being driven at speed.
The car turned off into Hazelwood Road and the occupants left the vehicle and fled the scene. Two men were located nearby and arrested. The car and the surrounding area were searched and cash and a quantity of what is believed to be Class A drugs were seized.
A 29-year-old man from Broughton Gifford and a 20-year-old man from Pewsham have been arrested on suspicion of driving while over the legal alcohol limit and possession with intent to supply Class A drugs. They were placed in custody at Melksham Police Station.
