THE number of first dose Covid-19 vaccinations delivered in the Melksham area has now surpassed 25,000.
The Melksham and Bradford on Avon Primary Care Network (PCN) reports that its first dose total is over 25,500 patients, with over 3,500 vaccines delivered last week alone.
The PCN is now ready to take its vaccination programme to the next stage – offering first dose vaccines to patients aged 42-49 at Melksham’s vaccination site at Spencer Sports and Social Club.
The PCN reports, “Melksham and Bradford on Avon PCN continue to deliver Covid-19 vaccinations locally at Spencer Sports and Social Club, with our first dose total now over 25,500 patients. Last week alone we gave over 3,500 vaccinations to our local population.
“We are nearing the end of second vaccinations for all patients in categories 1-9, which includes the over 50 year olds, health and social care, care homes and vulnerable patients. We urge our patients to make every effort to accept their second vaccination appointment.
“We are now inviting younger patients aged 42-49 years. We are sending out text invitations to enable patients to book their own choice of date/time direct into the appointments section.
“Clinics will be offered in the evenings and weekends to ensure as much flexibility for our patients as possible.
“We have set up a dedicated telephone line for Melksham patients aged 42 – 49 yrs who wish to register to receive the vaccination at Spencers on 01225 896653.
“We have an amazing team of clinical and non-clinical volunteers, without whom we would be unable to run these clinics. We would like to thank them for their ongoing commitment to the programme.

The local PCN is known as Melksham & Bradford on Avon Primary Care Network, and consists of the three GP practices Bradford on Avon & Melksham Health Partnership, Giffords Surgery and Spa Medical Practice – together they cover a population of c.48,000 residents.
