BOWERHILL Residents Action Group (BRAG) are celebrating being awarded the South West in Bloom’s ‘It’s Your Neighbourhood’ award for the fifth year running.
The Royal Horticultural Society’s ‘It’s Your Neighbourhood’ is a unique scheme for volunteer-led community gardening projects/groups who are focused on improving their local environment through community gardening.
This year, BRAG has put in a total of 620 voluntary hours working on the award-winning picnic area and bridle path, which runs beside the Kennet and Avon Canal.
Jenny Butcher, treasurer of BRAG said, “We were very pleased to have won this award for the fifth year running, especially when we were experiencing the drought conditions during the summer months, but all our hard work has paid off.
“Our new recruit this year, Sheila May, has become a real asset to this very active group of silversurfers alongside our Tuesday morning volunteers.”
