A YEAR after signs were erected around the town centre directing the way to the proposed Melksham campus on the Melksham House site, Wiltshire Council has decided to remove them to avoid any ‘confusion’.
The road sign on Spa Road has been removed completely, whilst the reference to the campus has been painted over on the High Street sign.
Last year in early October, the road signs for the campus caused amusement amongst the community as they were still waiting for news as to when the project would be completed. Shortly after the signs went up, a community meeting hosted by Wiltshire Council, announced that the campus should be completed by early 2021.
A Wiltshire Council spokesperson said, “We thought it would be sensible to remove the campus reference on the sign for the time being to avoid any confusion. The alteration to the sign was scheduled to take place to coincide with other work being carried out in the local area.”
