FOURTEEN volunteers turned up for the monthly Tidy Town Day, organized by Melksham Town Team on Sunday 3rd April.
The group usually meets at the town hall, but started from the Forest Community Centre in order to focus on the whole Forest area of Melksham.
Organiser Miriam Zaccarelli said, “Many bags of litter were retrieved from hedges, pavements and the play area, and staff at the community centre provided much-appreciated tea and coffee for the volunteers.
“Everyone earned Time Credits for the time they gave, which can be spent on movies at Melksham Assembly Hall.”
Andy Clayton, one of the volunteers said, ‘It was really good to do this area. Most streets were quite tidy, it was just the litter in hedges that has been building up that needed getting. It was great to have the Forest Community Centre as a base, too.”
The next Tidy Town Day will be on Sunday 8th May, location to be decided. Contact Miriam on miriam@melkshamtown.co.uk or 01225 704187 for more details.
