MELKSHAM’s branch of the Royal British Legion is recruiting volunteers for this year’s Poppy Appeal collection, which organisers hope will be another milestone success.
The appeal will run from Monday 26th October to Saturday 7th November, and see volunteers collecting for the memorial charity. Last year’s appeal in Melksham raised a record £20,000 – an almost £4,000 rise on 2013.
Organiser Ken Graham said, “We’d like volunteers to help us collect in the supermarkets in town, the more the merrier! People can offer to help for as many hours as they like, and we’re grateful for any contribution.
“We were very pleased with last year’s collection, and with everyone’s generosity in the town. The total has gone up every year since I started in 2008, and we’d like to try and raise even more this time around.”
Anyone interested in helping should contact Ken on 07887 941482, or Trevor Paterson on 07884 050097.
