Melksham & District Beekeeper’s Association is hosting an ‘Introduction to Beekeeping’ course later this year.
Organisers say, “If you’ve always wanted to keep bees, then this is a great opportunity to learn everything you need to know about setting up a hive, looking after bees, and harvesting your own honey.
“This short course is designed to introduce the important basics of beekeeping to anyone thinking about keeping bees as a hobby. The course combines beekeeping theory with some practical experience at the club apiary. There are four evening classes in Broughton Gifford and two daytime lessons at a weekend. The course is run by experienced and qualified local beekeepers who will be happy to lend a hand if you decide to set up your own hive.
“The evening classes will be held on Thursday 25th April; Thursday 2nd, 9th and 16th May. Weekend dates and times to be confirmed. Cost: adults £40; couples £60; under 18s free.
“Anyone interested in beekeeping is welcome to attend our meetings held on the last Monday evening of each month. Full details about the course and the association are available on: www.mbka .org.”
