BUSINESS has been booming at The Market Lounge since it opened last month – and the team are excited for what lies ahead as they invite the community to join them for a dining experience to remember!
Located in the Market Place, the new café, bar and restaurant is offering diners a variety of delicious dishes, including breakfasts, pizzas, pasta, salads, burgers, afternoon teas, desserts, and their already popular carvery – all at affordable prices.
The team behind Melksham’s newest eatery are business owners and popular local couple Leanne and Alper Kapan, who have years of experience in the hospitality industry. And joining them in the kitchen is executive chef Joe Lovejoy, who brings with him a wealth of experience and a passion for food.
Speaking to Melksham News, Leanne and executive chef Joe said, “We are so passionate about our food here at The Market Lounge. We pride ourselves on using locally-sourced fresh ingredients for our menu – and so far the feedback has been fantastic!
“The carvery on Sundays has been amazing – we have been serving beef, turkey and pork – and customers have commented that the meat, especially the beef, melts in their mouth. We are really proud about how the carvery is going – and we want to see more people coming in, especially families, to enjoy the experience. But booking is advisable – it’s very popular!
“There has been great feedback for all our other food too – the breakfast menu has gone down a storm while our pizzas, which are made fresh every day, are flying out of the kitchen! The pizza dough is prepared daily on the premises, giving the pizzas their uniquely fresh taste. No mass produced frozen pizza bases will be served at The Market Lounge!
“And a lot of people have said that we are very generous with our portion sizes – that’s something we insist and pride ourselves on – and have a fair priced menu.
“People are delighted to see a restaurant like this in the heart of the town and we are excited to be here. We have big plans for the future and we can’t wait to become a real hub for the community.
“Already we are offering a takeaway service, and we are considering launching a delivery service when we are ready. There is a ‘£5 happy hour’ on pizza and pasta from 3pm to 6pm on Monday to Thursday. In the afternoons you can relax and enjoy Italian-style barista coffee with a piece of home-made cake for just £3.50. And in the summer, we hope to have the garden ready for outside dining and a children’s play area.”
Also important to The Market Lounge team is there responsibility to the environment. Leanne and Joe explain, “Fresh vegetables are locally sourced from Lovejoys, a Melksham company. And the best meats are selected from Stiles & Son in Bromham. Both suppliers are very close, reducing the ‘miles to plate’. This makes The Market Lounge an environmentally responsible enterprise. Also, oil is disposed of in a sustainable fashion via bulk collection. We pride ourselves on being a responsible and sustainable business.”
The Market Lounge’s new regular opening hours are Monday to Saturday 10am to 10pm, serving food until 9pm; and Sunday 12pm to 8pm, serving food until 7pm.
For Christmas Day, The Market Lounge will be open for bookings only; and will be closed on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
