Throughout the year, the children have shown remarkable compassion to those around them.
From being a good friend, visiting the residents at Brookside residential home to raising a huge amount of money for a range of charities, the children have shown compassion in some extraordinary ways. This year we have supported Children in Need, Comic Relief, Mercy in Action and Link Romania. In addition to this, all of our children chose charities that were important to them during Lent and raised money in a variety of different ways such as cake sales, Teacher Vs Children football match, selling their stories, running a mile and many other activities! The children were incredibly proud to raise money for charities that help families at our school and we were so pleased to be able to offer our support to these charities.
In our work this year the children have, once again, shown respect for their environment. We are very proud to have achieved the Green Flag Eco Award. Our Eco Warriors, supported by Mrs Bacon, worked with great commitment to ensure that all children respected the environment. We also received ‘Level 4- Thriving’ recognition in Britain in Bloom and we thoroughly enjoyed working with the wider community to ensure we showed what a great place Melksham is to live.
Courage is a value that our children have continued to shine in. Not only in their learning but also in their approach to sports competitions that we are delighted to have taken part in this year including the swimming gala, dance festival, cross country and many more. Some other fantastic highlights of the year have been the KS2 production of ‘The Lion King’ and we have finished off the year with two fantastic nativities led by EYFS and KS1. The children amaze us every year with what they can do and achieve.
2019 has ended on a high as we have been recognised as Excellent in our SIAMs inspection, Good in our recent Ofsted inspection and we have been awarded the Gold Award for the RE Quality Mark. We are delighted that the visitors to our school could see what a special place Forest & Sandridge is and the children we have at our school continue to make us proud daily.
We are excited about the coming year at Forest & Sandridge, we know it will be another year where our children continue to grow and flourish.
