The Methodist Chapel in Top Lane was built 150 years ago in 1867 and the occasion was celebrated over the weekend of 15th/ 16th July.
The chapel was decorated with floral arrangements to represent the various regular activities that take place there, including the coffee shop, book swap, ‘craft and chat’ and games afternoons.
“Delicious cream teas were served to the many visitors, who were impressed by the extensive improvement carried out to the building in the last few years,” said Bob Brownrigg.
“On Sunday morning the chapel was packed for a service of celebration, which also marked the retirement of the minister, Rev Cathy Arscott. Cathy was presented with various gifts and messages of thanks for her work in this area over the past four years.
