MEMBERS of a slimming group turned heads earlier this month when they brought a horse to the Market Place to promote the health benefits of their club.
Group leader of Slimming World, Carmen Middleditch, brought her horse, Cookie, to the town centre. “I wanted to create interest,” said Carmen. “Personally, having lost weight – 3 and a half stone – I do feel a little less guilty about riding my horse!”
Joining Carmen and other members of the group, was great-grandmother Jane Pinchin, who was crowned ‘woman of the year’ for losing eight stone. “This has had a huge impact on her health,” explained Carmen. “She struggled to get up the stairs to my group when she started, and just two weeks ago completed a walk with other members, helping to raise over £200 for Cancer Research.”
Jane said, “I feel absolutely brilliant. It’s been a slow journey – it took over two years – and sometimes a struggle, but I got there in the end. I’ve had a lot of help from Carmen and the rest of the group and I couldn’t have done it without them, they are my family. I now have only seven and a half pounds to go before I reach my target weight.”
