MELKSHAM Community Meals is hosting a free lunch this Valentine’s Day to ensure that no-one eats alone.
The special lunch will also mark the first anniversary of the service, which launched last year after a successful campaign – led by Melksham’s Person of the Year 2019, Sue Mortimer, to reinstate the service after it was axed by Wiltshire Council in 2018.
The service, which is supported by volunteers, is open to everyone in the town and surrounding villages, offering a place for people to meet and socialise.
The free Valentine’s Day lunch will be held at Spencer Sports and Social Club, Beanacre Road – home to Melksham Community Meals since December, after it moved from the Assembly Hall.
Organiser Sue Mortimer told Melksham News, “We can’t think of a better way to celebrate our first anniversary and our new home. We would love to see our regular customers and new users come along for this Valentine’s Day lunch – enjoy some great food, meet new people, and find out more about what we do.
“Our menu for the lunch will include cottage pie with seasonable vegetables, chicken with creamy mash and seasonable vegetables, and a nut roast as the veggie option. And for dessert we will have a choice of chocolate torte with raspberries and cream or meringue nests.
“It would be very helpful if people could book in advance and pre order their meal so we can plan and be fully prepared for the day. We hope to see you there – will you be our Valentine?!”
The free Valentine’s Day lunch will be held on Friday 14th February at Spencer’s from 11.45am to 1.45pm. For further details and to book your place, contact Sue on 07719 935883.
