CARE workers in Melksham to a step towards a healthier life last month, when they completed a ‘pedometer challenge’ and walked over 1.2 million steps in three week.
As part of Somerset Care’s ‘Be Healthy’ campaign, employees signed up to the three week pedometer challenge.
Members of the team that took part in the challenge took a total of 1,266,624 steps, with the winner, Vanessa Stephens, contributing 158,754 of the total.
For her achievement, Vanessa has been awarded a £50 voucher of her choice; prizes have also been given out for second and third place.
Speaking on the challenge, Jenny Futcher, business manager, who received second place said, “We’ve all really enjoyed taking part in the pedometer challenge and I must congratulate Vanessa for the huge amount of steps she covered over the three weeks.
“Well done to everyone that was involved in this challenge, it has been great to achieve this as a team, working together to support and encourage each other. ”
Somerset Care is one of the largest not-for-profit healthcare providers in Southern England. The company provides over 29,000 hours of community care every week of the year to people in their own homes and through their residential care services they operate 31 care homes which provide residential and nursing care for over 1,550 residents.
