A LOCAL girl’s art work will be displayed in 10 Downing Street, after she was crowned winner of the children’s category in MP Michelle Donelan’s art competition to mark the King’s Coronation.
Grace Twiner-Phelan, eight, from Bowerhill Primary School won the category for children aged up to 13 years, with her picture featuring King Charles III with Queen Camilla in their royal carriage.
MP Michelle Donelan said, “Grace’s remarkable achievement in securing first place in the children’s category of my King’s Coronation Art Competition is truly commendable.
“Her artwork, alongside the two other winners, will be displayed in number 10 Downing Street, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity because this has never been done before. The Arts Society Kington Langley kindly provided a large goodie bag of prizes and I was delighted to be able to award her the prize in her classroom, so she could be celebrated by her peers. I am also looking forward to the opportunity to meet the talented winners from the teen and adult categories. Well done again to Grace and I hope she continues the good work.”
Grace said, “I think it’s really great. I am excited the Prime Minister will see my artwork. I want to be a vet in the future, but I will do art in my spare time.”
Other categories in the competition, where entrants could submit art work inspired by the Coronation, were for 13 to 18-year-olds and one for adults aged 18 and over. As well as having their work displayed in 10 Downing Street, the winners of each category also received a certificate.
