Wiltshire Police are appealing for witnesses after a Melksham woman died following a fatal road traffic collision on the afternoon of Monday 7th July 2014, near Avebury.
Harriet Gormley died after an incident took place on the A4 at Silbury Hill at 3.16pm. A red Austin Mini was driving east on the A4 from the direction of the Beckhampton roundabout towards West Kennet.
The driver then lost control as he negotiated the brow of a hill and a series of bends. The Mini rotated 90 degrees in the road, crossing the westbound carriageway. The passenger side of the Mini collided with the front of a silver Audi A4 which was parked in an adjacent layby. The Audi was then pushed backwards and collided with a red Hyundai i20 which was parked behind it.
As a result of the collision, the passenger of the Mini, Harriet, a 26-year-old woman from the Melksham area, died at the scene as a result of her injuries.
The male driver of the Mini suffered minor injuries. The road was closed for five hours as a result of the collision.
Wiltshire Police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or may have seen the red Mini beforehand.
