The play area at Awdry Avenue in Forest is currently undergoing refurbishment to include a range of new equipment and features for children to enjoy.
Plans for the park feature a climbing wall, a basket swing, a slide, wooden tepees, a children’s mud kitchen, sensory flowers and sensory mirrors along the outside.
The project is being funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and the Community Conversations initiative, which provides funding for local projects.
Deputy town clerk of Melksham Town Council, Hayley Bell, said, “These features aim to support children’s development while providing a fun and inclusive environment for families.
“We are excited to provide a space where children and families can come together, explore, and enjoy the outdoors in a thoughtfully designed environment.
“The play area will include natural play elements and imaginative spaces, offering children up to 12 years old opportunities for adventurous and risk-based play.
“This initiative reflects the council’s ongoing commitment to enhancing community spaces and promoting wellbeing for all residents.”
The new play park is expected to open by April 2025.
