SCHOOLS across Melksham celebrated World Book Day this month with pupils (and staff) dressing up as their favourite book characters to mark the national event.
Schools taking part included Bowerhill Primary School, Forest and Sandridge Primary School, St George’s Primary School in Semington, Churchfields, The Village School in Atworth and River Mead School. Daisychain Day Nursery also took part in the event.
St Mary’s Primary School in Broughton Gifford, also celebrated World Book Day by spending the day wearing pyjamas, snuggling up with blankets, teddies and their favourite books.
The school said, “In the afternoon, the whole school gathered together, and staff and children took turns reading their favourite books to each other. It was a wonderful day dedicated to sharing a real love of reading, which we aim to nurture in children from a young age at St Mary’s.”
