After almost 15 years on the bench the Melksham Amateur Swimming Club flag flew again at the regional championships in Hengrove last month.
Alice Nicol and Margot Lewy-Pierre both represented the club for the first time on the weekend of the 14th and 15th May. They were the first competitors the club has entered in a regional competition in nearly 15 years.
Alice swam in the girls 13 years backstroke in both 50m and 100m meters hitting long course personal bests in both events.
Margot swam 50m fly and 50m freestyle in the girls 11 to 12 year category, also hitting personal bests in both events.
Head coach Paul Nicol said, “The competition was fierce in both age groups, with 68 girls in the 13 years age group and 54 in the 11/12 years age group.
“Both Alice and Margot were great ambassadors for the club and Melksham Swordfish looks forward to taking even more swimmers next year!”
