WILTSHIRE’S Older Person’s Champion, Brian Warwick, has been awarded a certificate for long and dedicated service to Wiltshire by leader of Wiltshire Council, Baroness Scott, for his 30 years of serving the community.
The award was presented to Brian at a meeting of Wiltshire Council on Tuesday 10th July, with the entire cabinet giving him a standing ovation and warm appreciation about his long service.
Speaking to Melksham News Brian said, “All the years I have been serving Wiltshire Council, campaigning for the elderly and disabled, it is nice to get acknowledged. I have spent my time challenging policies and the council have always listened and made changes.
“I have been the voice of those who are not necessarily thought about when making decisions. The council see things through their own view, whether or not funding is available or to coincide with policy. I have been there to show them how their decision will affect people.
“My work with Melksham Seniors has given me to chance to see issues in a wider aspect and I hope I have served the community well.”
