THE community project ‘Melksham Remembers’ is holding a drop-in event at Melksham Library on Thursday 9th November from 3.00pm – 7.00pm.
Organisers say, “The project is looking at all aspects of the history of the area at that time. Do you have any old photos, documents, records or maps? Perhaps you have a relative’s medals and citations, telling of an act of heroism? Do you have a great story passed down your family? Have you done some of your own research and would like to share it? Perhaps where you live or work has a story to tell.
“We would love to talk to you and help us to add to our database and create a digital record of Melksham and the surrounding area. We are particularly interested in talking to you if you come from Atworth, Broughton Gifford, Steeple Ashton, Bulkington, Keevil, Great Hinton, Poulshot, Semington and Seend, as we know less about these areas.
“Do you love history? Would you like to know more about the Melksham and surrounding area’s contribution to the war effort 1914-18? Would you like to find out more about the impact of the First World War on Melksham and district? If so, why not come along to Melksham Library on Thursday 9th November between 3.00pm and 7.00pm to find out more and share your story?”
