ARRANGEMENTS are under way for this year’s Melksham Open Gardens event.
This will be held in the afternoon of Sunday 24th July, raising money for The Children’s Society, and organisers, the Melksham committee of The Children’s Society, are looking for more gardens and gardeners to join in.
They say, “The Open Gardens Scheme is very popular in many towns and villages throughout the UK, bringing great pleasure to garden lovers and also raising money for charities. It has become a modern tradition in Melksham and all the profits go to The Children’s Society, which runs projects such as providing safe houses and access to help for the 100,000 and more children who run away from home every year and often end up sleeping rough on the streets.
“The gardeners of Melksham have always been very supportive of this event and help to make it a really worthwhile occasion. We aim to have over a dozen gardens of all types and size, so why not let others admire and appreciate the hard work you put into your garden?
“All arrangements will be made by the local ladies of The Children’s Society, including publicity, insurance, cream teas and ticket sales.”
