4Youth, a charity dedicated to the wellbeing and development of young people in Wiltshire, are relaunching their Headstrong youth sessions as an open-access wellbeing hub for ages 11-19 at the Canberra Centre in Melksham on Monday 18th September.
“The sessions have previously been open to young people who had experienced some form of support, such as counselling, for mental health challenges,” says a spokesperson for the charity.
“We recognise however, that there are many young people who haven’t yet accessed such services but would benefit from the activities so we are opening the sessions out to be accessible to all young people who would like a little extra support around mental health and wellbeing.
“Going back to school can be an especially challenging time for young people, so during September and into October we will be running activities designed to support them with this including journal decorating, creative writing, timetable planning, managing anxiety and more. As we move into the autumn and winter months, we have lots of other engaging activities planned, including yoga and cooking, to support young people to feel happy and healthy.”
The club, which runs from 7pm to 9pm every Monday and costs £2 per session, offers young people a chance to further develop their social skills, extend their social network by meeting friends with similar experiences and take part in exciting, fun activities.
As part of 4Youth’s TeenTalk service, the charity also offers one-to-one counselling, group therapy and workshops on controlling anger which uses a positive, non-blaming solution focused approach to support young people to develop self-awareness, reflection, and relationship skills.
