TICKETS are now on sale for the visit of Dick Strawbridge to Melksham Assembly Hall on Saturday 7th September.
The famous TV personality, celebrity chef, eco engineer, sustainability expert, ex-Army colonel and proud owner of the best moustache in showbiz is visiting the town as part of Melksham’s Food & Drink Festival.
‘An Evening with Dick Strawbridge’ will feature Dick telling easy going anecdotes and amusing and interesting stories relating to his life exploring self sufficiency, together with his inside experiences as a TV celebrity chef, all delivered in his unique and inimitable style. There will also be an opportunity after the show to buy books and have them signed by Dick himself.
Dick was a finalist in the 2010 BBC series of ‘Celebrity Master Chef’ and currently has two cookery related shows airing on terrestrial TV.
In ‘Saturday Farm’ (ITV 1), Dick and his son James experience farming life at first hand at Daylesford in the Cotswolds and cook up a variety of tasty treats; whilst ‘Hungry Sailors’ (ITV 1) sees Dick and James setting sail for a culinary voyage around the Cornish coast taking in the Channel Islands and the Isles of Scilly along the way, tasting the very best in local produce and demonstrating a range of new recipes inspired by their travels.
Dick’s warm and exuberant personality was energetically demonstrated in his ‘Scrapheap Challenge’ days, and in his popular ‘not easy being green’ series which featured his family’s lifestyle changes and experiments into sustainable living and eco-technology at his family home, Newhouse Farm, which is a self-sufficient environmentally friendly smallholding in the West Country.
Chair of the Food Festival Committee, Pam Wiltshire said, “It’s a great thrill to be able to welcome Dick Strawbridge to Melksham as part of the 2013 Food and Drink Festival programme of events.
“It’s testament to the growth of the Festival over the last four years and the profile it now enjoys that we’re able to attract such a famous and high profile celebrity to the town. I do hope as many people as possible will come and enjoy what promises to be a really entertaining evening.”
Tickets for ‘An Evening with Dick Strawbridge’ are priced at £12.50 and are available from Melksham Assembly Hall (01225 709887) or the TIC.
