COME and cheer on Melksham Town in its big Boxing Day derby against Frome Town.
That’s the message from Town chairman Darren Perrin to Town supporters who he says are ‘best in the league’.
“We have a massive local derby at home to big spending and one of the title favourites in Frome Town on Boxing Day kick off at 3pm,” he told Melksham News. “Please bring family and friends to the game and enjoy the atmosphere and get behind your local club.
“Everyone at Melksham Town Football Club was disappointed and frustrated that the weather beat us on Saturday 10th December and that our home fixture against AFC Totton was postponed due to a frozen pitch. All our Youth and other Senior fixtures also fell victim to the weather as well.
“As this was our last home fixture before Christmas, I would like on behalf of the club to thank all of our players, management staff, staff and of course our volunteers for the help and support they have given me and the club this year.
“A massive thank you to our magnificent supporters who I believe to be the best in the league and of course the incredible support we have received from all of our sponsors. Without the supporters and sponsors we certainly would not be able to compete at the level we do, and I urge everyone from the Melksham and surrounding areas to come and support your local football community club. You won’t be disappointed.
“Next year the club are hoping to announce something, which would help the club and the community of Melksham massively going forward!!
We also have a sportsman evening with Ian Holloway to look forward too, our annual Golf Day at Cumberwell Park, one or two tribute bands to be played in the Sky Bar, just to name a few events that will be going on, with plenty more events to follow.
“Finally, the directors at Melksham Town FC would like to wish the people of Melksham, and all our youth players, youth managers, senior players, senior management, volunteers, supporters, staff and sponsors a very merry Christmas and Happy New Year and hope you all have a great time and stay safe and well.”
Before the Boxing Day derby, Town travel to Slimbridge this Saturday and then have another big local derby in the New Year, away at recently promoted Westbury United, on Monday 2nd January, ko 3pm.
