THIS year’s Melksham Carnival Royalty has been chosen at a special afternoon tea event held at the Canberra Centre.
Melksham Carnival Queen 2019 is Naomi Jeffries and Melksham Carnival Princess 2019 is 15-year old Abbie Dark.
“I was really shocked to be chosen, but very excited,” said new carnival queen Naomi. “I’m looking forward to spending time with the rest of the Melksham Carnival Royalty and attending our first event.”
The Melksham junior carnival royalty was also chosen at the event, with eight-year old Leighton Weston crowned Butterfly Princess and seven-year old Isabella Payne crowned Fairy Princess. This year’s Page is six-year old Ethan Williams.
Royalty guardian, Beth Dark said, “It was a wonderful event comprising of a vintage tea party with a group of Lacock Primary schoolchildren singing, to begin the proceedings. I am very pleased with the result. We had more entries than we expected this year, much more than compared to recent years – which was fantastic to see! There were 22 entries and the five local judges found it enjoyable, but extremely difficult to choose.
“The new royalty will be the main attraction in the Melksham Carnival procession on Saturday 29th June and they are all very excited about that and their year of royalty appointments. If anyone would like the Melksham Carnival Royalty to attend their event, they can contact us via the Facebook page or at info@melksham carnival. co.uk.”
