A PRIMARY school in Melksham has been awarded £500 in the Asda Foundation Green Token Giving scheme.
River Mead School and Nursery were presented with the cheque on Tuesday 7th March by Asda Community Champion, Emma Scott.
Headteacher Karen Austin said, “We’d like to use the money for new play equipment and are going to ask the school parliament to come up with ideas about what they would like to use it for. We are super excited to have won this award. It will make such a difference to playtime and boost children’s engagement.”
A Friend of River Mead School Amelia Brown said, “We are so pleased to win this amount of money. We were responsible for trying to get as many people to vote as possible. We would remind people on social media, we also put QR codes up around the school to get as many parents to vote on their phones. We are really excited to have won £500.”
Asda Community Champion Emma Scott said, “River Mead School have done really well. They were in the lead the whole way!”
