ORGANISERS of the Queensway Community Day event have hailed it a huge success with over £200 raised.
The Queensway Community Day which is now in its sixth year, has grown from a one-off celebration to a regular event in the community calendar, enjoyed both by folk local to the area and from further afield.
Tracey Griffin, who has been part of the organising team form the start said, “It’s just unbelievable how the event has grown and become such a great day out for our community.”
Sue Brown said, “We had a fabulous day and everything went well. Lots of folk enjoyed themselves and we have 50 knitted dolls and teddies to send to the Middle East via Samaras aid (www.samaras aidappeal.org) for children who have lost everything.
“We have over £100 to give to the ‘Blood Bikes’ – Melksham Freewheelers who support the Air Ambulance, and over £100 to send to the ‘Let the Children’ home in Uganda where the money will go towards equipping the new home they hope to move into soon.
“It was a wonderful day. Thank you to everyone who made it so successful – the entertainment, the stall holders and the public who came along and so generously donated to these good causes.”
